Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about how the Foundation operates, our grant programs, and our commitment to transparency.
General
Ardent Africa is the core technology platform that enables individuals and organizations to run fundraising campaigns across the continent. The Ardent Africa Foundation is the philanthropic arm: we use the platform to identify, verify, and directly co-fund high-impact NGOs, run crisis response initiatives, and build capacity across our partner network.
We support charitable causes and NGO partners continent-wide. Our teams and verification partners are currently hubbed in Accra, Nairobi, and Lagos.
The Foundation receives funding through a mix of private philanthropy, corporate partnerships, and voluntary contributions from donors using the Ardent Africa platform who choose to tip the foundation to support our grant-making.
Grants & Programs
Yes. To ensure accountability and measurable impact, we prioritize registered nonprofits, recognized community-based organizations (CBOs), and verified cooperatives. Organizations must have at least 6 months of active, documented programming.
Eligibility requires an active or prospective presence on the Ardent Africa platform. Eligible organizations can apply via our Contact page or directly through their platform dashboard during active grant cycles. We focus our proactive grants on education, health, economic resilience, and crisis response.
For emergency crisis response (e.g., flood relief), we activate and disburse funds within 48 hours to pre-vetted partners. For standard community grants, disbursement typically occurs within 21 days following final approval and verification.
We prioritize transparency without overwhelming local teams. Grant recipients provide structured reports at 6 and 12 months, tracking against specific outcome metrics agreed upon during the grant approval process.
Trust & Transparency
The Foundation itself charges no fees for executing grants. However, donations processed through the main Ardent Africa platform are subject to standard payment gateway and platform sustainability fees, which are transparently disclosed at checkout.
Tax deductibility depends entirely on your country of residence and the legal registration of the specific campaign or NGO you are donating to. You will receive an official contribution receipt upon donation, but please consult your local tax professional for advice.
We employ a multi-layered approach: independent field verification of grant outcomes, mandatory partner reporting at 6 and 12 months, and real-time data tracking via the Ardent Africa platform. Verified results are published in our annual summaries.
